What we collect

  • Your email address, if you give it to us: to create an account.
  • Your answers to the optional onboarding quiz, if you choose to save them.
  • Tracker figures you choose to enter: your monthly essential costs, your emergency fund balances, contribution and yearly rate, and your savings plan settings (monthly amount, start month, length, yearly increase, expected return, inflation and the split by fund type) with each dated record of what you save (the date, the amount, the fund type and an optional rate of your own), and your own yearly rate per fund type if you set one. In the Egypt edition we also keep the reference prices and rates of each record's day with the record.
  • If you use the savings tracker: for each month you log, the amount you saved in each fund type (or in total) and, if you choose to type it, what you think that fund type was worth at the end of the month. If you use the net worth tracker: for each dated statement, your average monthly spending (if you give it) and each line you list: its section and category (for example cash, certificates, gold, a mortgage), an optional name you give it, and its amount, or for gold in Egypt its grams and karat, or for foreign currency its amount and currency code, and for current assets whether you would sell it in an urgent need. With a statement we keep the reference gold and dollar prices used to value it, with their source and date. Please don't type account numbers into a name.
  • If you use the debt payoff tracker: for each debt, a name you give it, its yearly interest and minimum payment, and each dated balance, plus your payoff strategy and extra monthly payment. If you use the goals tracker: for each goal, a name you give it, its type, target amount and month, the amount already saved, an optional yearly return, whether it is archived, and each dated contribution or balance you log. If you use the income tracker: for each month, your income and, if you enter it, the amount you saved, plus your own inflation figure if you set one. Please don't type account numbers into a name. All of it is visible only to you and is deleted with your account.
  • Calculator inputs you choose to save (for example your debts or savings figures). Scenarios you save are linked to your account. Anyone with a scenario's link can open it.
  • Basic server logs (IP address, browser and pages requested) kept for security and to fix errors.

Your account

  • When you create an account we store your email address (in lowercase), a scrambled version of your password (never the password itself), the edition and language you use (first the ones you signed up in, then whichever you pick with the edition or language switcher while you are signed in, so Puls opens that way on your other devices and our emails use that language), and when you joined.
  • If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address, whether it has verified it, and an ID for your Google account. We store the email and that ID to recognise you. We don't receive your Google password, contacts or profile, we don't get ongoing access to your Google account, and we never post anything.
  • If you sign in with Google using an email that already has an account here, we connect them. From then on you sign in with Google and your old password stops working.
  • We also store a record for each browser you are signed in on: a scrambled sign-in token and its expiry date. We don't store your IP address or browser details with it.
  • If you ask to reset your password, Resend, our email provider, processes the message, including your email address and the one-time link in it, only to deliver it. We keep a scrambled code for that link, not the link itself. The code stops working after 30 minutes and is deleted within a day of expiring, when you use it, or with your account.
  • We also store when you last signed in and when you were last seen signed in, so we can spot dormant accounts and unusual activity. And we keep the days you were active (one entry per day, nothing about what you did on it) for 13 months, to count active accounts and how many people come back. All of this is removed with your account.
  • Every account stores one appearance value, light by default and dark if you choose it in Account settings, so it follows you on every device. We also keep it in the readable sign-in marker cookie so the page can show it without a flash. It is deleted with your account. When you are signed out, Puls is always light.
  • Your saved scenarios are linked to your account so you can find them again. You can delete any of them from the My scenarios page.
  • If you set a rate alert on the Rates page, we store which rate it is on, the condition and level you chose, the rate on the day you set it, whether it is on, and when it last fired with the rate that made it fire. When it fires, Resend, our email provider, delivers one email to your account's address. Alerts are visible only to you, you can delete any of them on the Rates page, and they are deleted with your account.
  • Your trackers (emergency fund, monthly savings plan, savings tracker, net worth, debt payoff, goals and income) are visible only to you. There is no share link. Tracker figures are used only to show your trackers to you (on My trackers and on your homepage), never for advertising. Your dated savings records, your savings tracker months and your net worth statements are visible only to you, are used only to show your trackers to you, and are deleted with your account. You can delete any balance, record, month, statement or whole tracker from the My trackers page.
  • If you take the optional quiz while signed in, your answers are saved to your account when you finish it. We store them (only the questions you answered; one question lets you pick up to two answers) with the time you saved them. If you create an account to keep answers you gave in your browser, they come from that quiz. We use them only to put relevant guides and Money Insights first on your homepage, never for advertising. Answers you gave to an earlier version of the quiz are carried over to the matching new questions (for example, a goal and a worry become what would help most), without asking you anything new. You can clear them from the Account page at any time.
  • If you are signed in you can mark a guide as helpful or not helpful. We store that vote (the guide and which thumb) with your account, so you can change or remove it, and to show how many readers found each guide helpful. Only the totals are public; nobody can see who voted. It is deleted with your account.
  • You can delete your account from the Account page. This permanently removes your account, your sign-ins, your quiz answers, your guide votes, all your saved scenarios, all your trackers and the link to your Google account. You can also remove Puls from your Google account's third-party connections.

Email alerts

  • Alert emails are optional and off until you turn them on in Account settings, which needs a confirmed email address. They go only to the email address you signed up with, and they describe only the numbers you already logged in your trackers. So far there is one: a monthly reminder, sent from the 20th of the month, listing the trackers you use that have no entry for the month yet.
  • We keep when you turned each alert on (the record of your choice) and, for each edition, the month we last sent you a reminder. We keep no amounts or names for this. It is all deleted with your account. We count the emails sent as anonymous daily totals.
  • Resend, our email provider, processes the message and your email address only to deliver it. Every alert email has an unsubscribe link that works in one click, and you can also turn alerts off in Account settings.

What we don't collect

  • No bank logins, card numbers or national ID numbers. The calculators run in your browser and don't need them.
  • No advertising or tracking cookies, and no advertising or analytics tools that follow you around the web.

Counting visits and Money Insights use

  • We count how the site is used as daily totals only: for example how many times a page or a calculator was opened or used, which part of a tracker was opened, how many readers played a guide's video, reached the end of a guide or opened its calculator, which part of the site a guide was opened from (such as the homepage, a topic page or another guide), or where visits came from in broad groups (a search engine, a social network, WhatsApp, a direct visit or another site). Each count is added to a total for the day, the edition and the language. The totals are not linked to you.
  • Counting sets no cookie and uses no identifier. We don't store your IP address, your browser details or the page address for it, and we never store what you type into a calculator. We only note whether a visit was signed in, never who you were.
  • If your browser signals Global Privacy Control, it sends no counts of page views or Money Insights use. Anonymous totals of account actions, such as signing in or saving a scenario, are still kept, because the account itself records them; they are never linked to you. Because of this, and because of ad blockers, the totals are approximate.
  • A small number of staff can see these site-wide totals, and counts such as how many accounts there are, how many were active, or how many accounts use one, two or more kinds of tracker. They can never see your figures, and there is no list of people. The one exception is a message you send us through the Contact page, described below.
  • Two of these site-wide totals are public: the homepage shows how many times Money Insights tools have been used and how many trackers have been built, as counts only (rounded down, and shown only once they are large enough that no individual stands out). They are never linked to you.

Contact requests

  • If you write to us through the Contact page we store your email address, your message, the topic you chose, the edition and language of the page you used and, if you were signed in, a link to your account. We also count requests as anonymous daily totals by topic.
  • We use them only to reply to you and to fix what you reported. We never use your email for marketing or a newsletter.
  • A request is kept for 12 months and then deleted. If you delete your account, your requests are kept until then with the email address you gave, but are no longer linked to your account.
  • A small number of staff can read your request. Please don't include account numbers, balances or phone numbers.

Cookies

  • Two small cookies remember your edition (Egypt or Global) and language for one year. While you are signed in, they follow the edition and language saved on your account.
  • If you sign in, a sign-in cookie (rm_session) keeps you signed in while you keep using the site. It ends after 7 days without a visit, and in any case 30 days after you signed in. A marker cookie (rm_auth) tells the site whether to check. The marker holds no personal data: it only says that you are signed in and, if you chose the dark appearance in Account settings, that choice. Both are removed when you sign out.
  • While you sign in with Google, a short-lived cookie (rm_oauth) protects the sign-in from forgery. It is deleted when you return, or after 10 minutes at most.
  • All of these are essential for the site to work, and none of them track you across other sites.

Stored in your browser

  • If you take the quiz while signed out, your answers are saved in your browser's local storage when you finish, and stay there until you remove them. They never leave your browser unless you choose to create an account to keep them; they then move to that new account when you sign up. They are not sent to us before that, they are never added to an account that already existed, and they never replace answers an account already has.
  • If you press Save while signed out, your calculator inputs are kept in your browser's session storage for up to an hour so we can save them once you sign in. They are not sent to us before you sign in, and they are removed after use.
  • If you change the growth rates in the net worth forecast, those percentages are kept in your browser's local storage. No amounts are stored, and nothing is sent to us.
  • When you reach the end of a guide, or press "Mark as read" on it, your browser remembers it: the guide's name and the day, kept in local storage so the homepage and the guides pages can show your reading progress. That history stays in your browser; the site separately counts, anonymously and only as a daily total, how many readers reached the end of a guide (see above). "Undo" or "Mark as unread" takes a guide off it. You can also remove all of it from the Guides page, from this page or, if you are signed in, from the Account page; it is cleared when you sign out.
  • If you are signed in, reaching the end of a guide or pressing "Mark as read" is also saved to your account: the guide's name and when you read it, and nothing else. We use it only to show you your own progress (on the homepage and the guides pages), never for advertising, and our staff have no screen that shows an individual's reading history. Guides you finished in your browser before are added to your account only if you press the button for it on the Account page. "Undo" or "Mark as unread" removes that guide from your account too, and "Delete my reading history" on the Account page removes every guide from it at any time; it is also deleted with your account.
  • If you hide the quiet wins on your homepage, that choice is kept in your browser's local storage. Nothing else is stored and nothing is sent to us. While you are signed out, the homepage also reads the quiz answers kept in your browser to show where you are on the path; this happens in your browser only.

How we use your data

  • To run your account, to keep saved scenarios and trackers available, and to keep the site secure.
  • If you choose to sign in with Google, Google is our sign-in provider: it confirms your email address to us, and its own privacy policy covers your Google account.
  • If you sign up with email we send one confirmation link and record when you confirmed it.
  • A saved scenario keeps the figures you entered, which can include personal details such as a salary. Share its link with care.
  • We don't sell your data. Any service providers we use (such as hosting and email delivery) only process it on our behalf.

Your choices and rights

  • Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time, and you can delete your account yourself from the Account page.
  • We aim to follow Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020) and, for visitors in Europe, the GDPR.

Changes

  • If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell subscribers by email.
